Dear Friends and Visitors alike...

my articles have been random, at best....but we've come to a new crossroads here at Nicky6 and hope that you can visit us on a Daily basis for our daily opinion, our daily "chat" and our daily recipe....

Life is GOOD, and the ones in charge are only in charge of so much~they don't own you and don't let them. And keep in mind, they are only in charge because we put them there. If they don't do a good job? get rid of them!!!!!!!!

But never let them take your happiness..........

hi.

just for today, i will not lash out in anger at those who i feel have wronged me. I will not pick up the phone or the pen to give someone a piece of my mind. I will bite my tongue and suck it up because I know that in the long run, this is the better, more mature option. BUT, I will no longer allow these same folks to look at me as a door mat, as a way to better themselves without doing the work, as people who never say thank you for a job well done. I will no longer allow anyone to make me feel less than I am because they choose to see me in a light any less bright than the one that shines over their own mirror...

we need to learn how to respect one another. we need to accept the fact that everyone's day is important to someone else if not to ourselves...we need to realize how different the world would be and WILL be if one small thing changes the day and the one small thing that changes the day, actually changes the world one little piece at a time. If you love someone, tell them. If you like someone, show them. If you hate someone, visit a priest or a counsellor and work it out because you actually hate yourself for being filled with hate (or hit that person over the head with a tomato, thats up to you)....if you have family that needs to make a change, help make that change. If you've wronged someone? correct it. If someone has wronged you? call them on it, politely. if there is someone in need? lend a hand....but do it in a way where they know they never need to repay your favor...

move forward, move past it, move on.

not everyone is meant to get along nicely, but we're all here at the same time. Why not make the best of it.

The Disclaimer Dilemma

Disclaimers. They are everywhere from shampoo to computers....you always need to read the fine print...don't purchase an item, don't sign your name, and don't order any meat "rare" in a restaurant...what can we think of that doesn't have a disclaimer that probably could?

Parking Spaces. "We cannot guarantee, by your parking in our lot, your car's safety. In truth, someone who never learned how to drive may come through here and sideswipe your car. Alternately, a disgruntled $8.00 per hour attendee may decide that this is the day he will no longer take the company BS and use your car as a way to get fired. This will not be our problem by way of this disclaimer. Furthermore, if you raced to cut off someone's NANA to get the closest spot to the grocery store? You deserve some damage. We're with NANA. Lastly, get your lazy butt out of the handicapped designated spot. Do not argue this point as PMS does not qualify for this spot, nor does I'll just be a sec."

Deliciously Prepared Meals. "We cannot guarantee giving you your money back on this meal because you randomly, in a drunken stupor, decided to order FOIS GRAS from this DINER. We are in fact, a DINER. We specialize in eggs, coffee, snappy waitresses and greek food that you cannot pronounce properly. The Spinning Glass Cabinet of pastries with sticky hot pink strawberry-like substance may be more to your liking (but by way of this disclaimer, we are not responsible for this either).

Bags of Mulch. "Congratulations on your new purchase of a bag of ground up sticks. Please do not call us to tell us that this bag is filled with...ground up sticks. We do not care if your sticks are not even in color, size or texture. They are in fact, sticks. Now go spend your only free day of the week spreading this crap around the yard"

KY Intense Satisfaction Lubricant. "By using this product, we do not and cannot guarantee any satisfaction whatsoever. We cannot guarantee that your lover (or love life) will improve in any way, shape or form. If they couldn't find it before application of this product, we CAN gurantee that they will not be able to find it after application of this product. If you are dissatisfied with this lubricant, we dare you to return it to the pharmacist."

Milk Duds. "Please don't call us to tell us that your filling came out while enjoying our product. We will only laugh."

Pick Your Own Fruit. "We cannot guarantee that this is the best fruit you have ever had. We do not know you. We can say that fleshy fruit will be fleshy, bitter fruits will not be sweet, but sweet fruits may be bitter (along with the picking captain for that orchard). Any and all questions or complaints may be directed to our director of Fruit deliciousness: Mother Nature, 1-800- (oh wait? doesn't she have email yet?)

75 year old trees on Town Greens. "We cannot guarantee that you will see Jesus in our trees."

Local TV weathercasters. "We cannot guarantee the accuracy of our four millioin dollar DOPPLAR System. We are not responsible for predicting anything that will happen today, including the sunshine and 86 degree weather that we promised you yesterday. WE cannot and will not be held responsible for the thousands of dollars that you have just spent on your outdoor wedding. We do, however, recommend looking outside with crossed fingers which is the advanced technology we have yet to master. Welcome to Holland

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability � to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this�

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip � to Italy. You buy a bunch of guidebooks and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum, the Michelangelo David, the gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!" you say. "What do you mean, Holland?" I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy.

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to some horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy a new guidebook. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around, and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills, Holland has tulips, Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy, and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life you will say, "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

The pain of that will never, ever, go away, because the loss of that dream is a very significant loss.

But if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things about Holland.

I really believe that if you take a chance on your choice, you might find that you were right all along...but you'll never know if you never take the chance...so I almost disagree with the statement...

You may choose to take a chance, but you may not choose to chance your choices.......I say?

Bite off more than you can chew? And then figure it all out as it hits you...we all already do it anyway, we just need to be honest with how big our bite is........
